All students in elementary, middle and high school were eligible to participate in the 2019 Constitution Day & Citizenship Day Drawing Contest. The drawing contest theme was:  The Constitution.  Articles One (I) through Seven (VII); The Bill of Rights (Amendments One (I) through Ten (X)); and/or Other Amendments (Eleven (XI) through Twenty-Seven (XXVII). Judges for the contest included:  Guam Bar Association, and professional local artists:  Mr. Ronald “Ron” J. Castro, an artist known for his graphic design talents as well as his altruistic endeavors assisting several non-profit and volunteer organizations for civic causes; and Mrs. Taliea Guerrero-Strohmeyer, owner of Color Guam Studio with over 25 years of experience in painting and holds a degree in graphic design and painting. The judging criteria consisted of: 40 points for sticking to the THEME; 30 possible points for REFLECTION & MEANING OF DRAWING; 20 possible points for CREATIVITY; and 10 possible points for ORIGINALITY.  Here are the winners for each category:

The District Court of Guam invites you to attend a bankruptcy seminar to be presented by Assistant U.S. Trustee Curtis B. Ching and Trial Attorney Neil Verbrugge on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., at the District Court of Guam.  

Beginning this school year, our court will begin a new method of announcing all our community and educational outreach events, programs and contests – we will do so by quarterly (or bimonthly) digital newsletters. This is our first issue of the newsletter.  This newsletter has been sent to every school on the island.  Please review our newsletter for upcoming events.

2019 Civics Education Camp students learned a lot from the icivics curriculum and had the opportunity to listen to guest presenters weekly.  Each week students attended field-trips to local and federal agencies. Students toured each of the three branches of government and had the opportunity to personally meet with leaders of Guam, among many other professionals.

The District Court of Guam and Guam Bar Association’s Civics Education Camp was created for students in grades eighth to twelfth.  16 students from all different schools around the island attend the camp from June through August.  Students in this video share their fondest memories and favorite lessons from the camp.

2019 Civics Education Camp Students Reflect on and Celebrate Constitution Day and Citizenship Day

In commemoration of Independence Day, the District Court of Guam will host a special Naturalization Ceremony to be held on July 3, 2019 @ 9:30 a.m. The keynote speaker for the ceremony will be the Rear Admiral Shoshana Chatfield, Commander, Joint Region Marianas   Click here for Press Release.
