As part of its celebration of Law Week, the District Court of Guam hosted a Conversatorio, “Miranda: More than Words,” with island students on May 6, 2016. Panelists discussed the Law Week topic with students majoring in Criminal Justice and/or taking Basic Law Enforcement Academy from the University of Guam and the Guam Community College, students from Pacific Islands University and seniors high school students from Guam High School. Panelists included Chief Judge Tydingco-Gatewood, U.S. Magistrate Judge Joaquin V.E. Manibusan, Jr., Supreme Court of Guam Justices F. Philip Carbullido and Katherine Maraman, United States Attorney Alicia Limtiaco, Federal Public Defender John Gorman, Military Judge Advocate Carina Podgorski, and an attorney from the Public Defender Service Corporation. Guam attorneys Rodney Jacob, and Cynthia Ecube moderated the event along with Anne Dorshimer, a law clerk for Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood.
