Santos vs. Camacho, et al. (CV-04-00006) Change of Hearing.
Due to the need for further briefing the court hereby vacates the July 6 hearing date and reschedules the Fairness Hearing to September 20, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. In order to ensure that class members and interested parties are notified of the continued fairness hearing date, the Defendants shall cause to be published notice of such continuance in the Pacific Daily News.
New Clerk of Court Appointed: Effective August 6, 2007
Chief Judge Frances M. Tydingco-Gatewood is pleased to announce her appointment of Jeanne G. Quinata as the new Clerk of Court for the District Court of Guam.
New Bankruptcy Chapter 7 Case Trustee Appointed: Effective July 9, 2007
The U.S. Trustee Steven Jay Katzman has appointed Victorina M.Y. Renacia to the panel of Chapter 7 Trustees for the Districts of Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. She will be the presiding officer over 341 meetings and have the authority to examine debtors under oath (Fed.R.Bank.P.2003(b)).

National Day of Mourning - January 2, 2007
The Court will be closed to join the rest of the country in mourning the death of former U.S. President Gerald R. Ford.
Filing Fee Increases, Effective January 1, 2007
Pursuant to the Judicial Conference's approved changes to the Bankruptcy Court Miscellaneous Fee Schedule and the Court of Appeals Miscellaneous Fee Schedule relating to implementation of the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 (BAPCPA)(Pub. L. No. 109-8) and the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (DRA)(Pub. L. 109-171), filing fees for the District Court of Guam will be increased. Additionally, General Rule 17.1 of the Local Rules of Practice is amended to reflect an increase in the attorney admission filing fees. The new fees will become effective on January 1, 2007. Investiture of the Honorable Frances M. Tydingco-Gatewood
Guam's first Chamorro woman District Court Chief Judge is sworn in on October 30, 2006 by the Honorable Mary M. Schroeder, Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Judge Tydingco-Gatewood is accompanied by her husband and three sons.

The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 (BAPCPA) was enacted on April 20, 2005. Most new provisions become effective October 17, 2005, although some are already in effect.
